Mounted Roman soldiers enter the area through an arch, while another soldier ties a rope around Christ's hands on the cross. At the left, a mounted soldier carrying a banner and a hill in the background frame the action of the foreground figures. The soldiers' shields bear the inscription, SPQR.On View
